The percentage excl. taxes depends on the sender and receiver countries of the shipment.
- 0,7% for domestic shipments
- 1,0% for EU shipments
- 1,1% for shipments outside EU
Taxes vary by country where the policy holder is located and are calculated on top of the premium percentage. The Netherlands does not have additional insurance taxes but some other countries charge additional insurance taxes:
- Belgium: 1,4%
- Germany: 19% for domestic only
- United Kingdom: 12%
Examples:
For policy holder country The Netherlands and an international shipment from The Netherlands to the United States, the premium is 1,1% and there are no insurance taxes. A shipment with value EUR 1.000,- will have a premium amount of EUR 11,-
Calculation: EUR 1.000,- x 0,011 = EUR 11,-
For policy holder country Germany and a domestic shipment from/to Germany, the premium is 0,7% and the insurance tax is 19%. A shipment with value EUR 1.000,- will have a premium amount of EUR 8,33
Calculation: EUR 1.000,- x (0,007 x 1,19) = EUR 8,33
