With carrier quoting it is possible to request a dynamic shipping price from supported carriers, based on checkout baskets and the products contained within.

Configuring Carrier Quoting on Shipping Rates

Normally you would configure one or several static shipping prices on your shipping rates, based on a few conditions such as cart total and product weights, but you can enable Carrier quote to have this price generated dynamically based on the checkout delivery country and products in the cart:

The conditions configured for the shipping zone are still active, but the price will now be dynamically pulled from the carrier (or configured cost sheet).

When Carrier quote has been enabled it should look like this:

Adding additional value to carrier quote price

After Carrier quote has been enabled on a shipping rate, you can add additional rules to the price returned by the carrier like this example:

The above rules would add 2 EUR to each price fetched dynamically from the carrier, as well as adding 5% to the price.
