Administrative consolidation is being used to realise a pricing advantage in the contract terms with the carrier. The idea is that several shipments are consolidated when certain shipment parameters are equal. Transsmart has created a functionality for several carriers that checks whether there has been another shipment on the same day on the specific address (parameters may be: contact name, company name, street1, street2, houseno, zip code, city, country) with the same service level. For Transsmart customers the consolidation principle is being used when physical consolidation within working / picking process is not possible / difficult.
