Dangerous goods include items like explosives, flammable materials, toxins, infectious agents, radioactive materials, and corrosives. When shipping these items, you must provide detailed documentation to carriers for safe handling, adhering to strict legal standards that can be complex and time-consuming. The DG Office integration in nShift Ship automates this process, but you can also manage it yourself if you have the required certifications.
Using the DG Office integration
With DG Office integration, nShift Ship automatically prints the necessary dangerous goods documents and sends data to the carrier. The automated process works through integration with the DG office (from DGM), making sure that dangerous goods descriptions and documents are consistently updated so your shipments can arrive safely. The DG Office integration is controlled via nShift Ship's integration module, and to use it, you need a DG Office license from a DGM Partner. Once you have the license key, connecting nShift to DG Office is straightforward.
You can create dangerous goods articles through your DG office online catalog, which serves as a database and validation tool. nShift Ship automatically retrieves your dangerous goods information from DG Office using the article number, saving you time by eliminating the need to manually complete documents. This built-in validation also helps avoid fines or accidents.

Sending dangerous goods information without using DG Office
For customers who are certified in handling dangerous goods, it is possible to enter and send dangerous goods information to carriers who support this, without using the DG Office integration. Ship will simply send the entered data, and you must be aware of the following:
- There will not be any validations or logic applied to the dangerous goods information you enter.
- No summarizing of points will occur
- Dangerous goods documents will not be printed automatically
You will need to manage this outside of Ship, and it is important to remember that you are responsible for any dangerous goods information sent through Ship this way. nShift Customer Service is unable to assist with questions about dangerous goods that are not related to the DG office integration.
