Overview
Dangerous goods (DG) such as explosives, flammable materials, toxins, infectious agents, radioactive materials, and corrosives require careful handling due to strict legal requirements. Managing this documentation manually can be complex and time-consuming.
nShift Ship offers two main approaches to help streamline this process: Integration with DG Office or self-managed documentation (for certified users).
Option 1: DG Office integration (recommended)
With DG Office integration, nShift Ship automatically prints the necessary dangerous goods documents and sends data to the carrier. Dangerous goods descriptions and documents are consistently updated so your shipments can arrive safely
How it works
- Integrates nShift Ship with DG Office (by DGM), a trusted third-party tool for DG documentation.
- Automatically retrieves your dangerous goods details using article numbers from your DG Office online catalog, making manual entry unnecessary.
- Generates and prints all required DG documents automatically, ensuring accuracy and compliance and reducing the risk of fines or mishaps.
Requirements
- A valid DG Office license (via a DGM Partner) with Web Service module.
- Configuration through nShift Shp's integration module. Straightforward once you have your license key.

Option 2: Self-Managed Documentation (for Certified Users)
If you have proper certification to handle dangerous goods documentation independently, you may choose to bypass DG Office integration; however, be aware of the following implications:
-
No validation or automated logic: nShift Ship will transmit exactly what you enter without validation checks. No summarizing of points.
-
No automatic documentation: You must create and manage all DG documents externally.
- Full user responsibility: You are solely accountable for the accuracy and legality of the data submitted. Support from nShift is not available for DG workflows outside the DG Office integration.

Recommendation
For most users, DG Office Integration offers a streamlined, reliable, and compliant way to ship dangerous goods, eliminating manual entry and reducing risks. Only consider manual handling if you are fully certified and equipped to manage documentation and legal compliance independently.
