System requirements and download
Scan App is available for Android and iOS. It runs on iOS 11 or later and Android 5 or later. All barcodes generated in nShift Ship can be scanned with Scan App.
All scanned barcodes are uploaded to nShift Portal using HTTPS requests and responses. When the app is offline, data is stored using local databases and triggers for syncing data when internet connection becomes available.
You can download Scan App from App Store and Google Play by clicking the link in the SMS or e-mail invitation sent to you from Portal. Learn more about inviting agents in the article Setting up an Action Center.
If you want to install Scan App on a PDA device that does not have access to Google Play, you can download the Scan App APK file here.
Once you have downloaded Scan App, choose your language, enter your name and Agent Key and tap the Connect button. The Agent Key is either your mobile number if you received an SMS invite or your e-mail address if you received an e-mail invite. Confirm your Display settings and you are ready to start using Scan App.
Migrating data from legacy Scan App
If you have been using the old version of Scan App and have it installed on your device when launching the current version of Scan App, you will get the option to migrate the data from your Scan App account. It will create your user profile and connect you to the Action Center used in Scan App.
Click Yes to migrate data from Scan App and confirm your Display settings. After this, you will be ready to start using Scan App.
Note: When you migrate data, the agent will remain unchanged in the Action Center in Portal. However, if you choose not to migrate data while you are also using Scan App, a new agent will be created in the Action Center, even if the name and agent key is identical.
