Use case 4:
Company Q is a Danish company that ships both Pallets and Parcels to domestic receivers. They use carrier PostNord for both business and private parcels. Leman is used for all euro pallets but they sometimes send bigger pallets and for these special shipments they use DSV. Occasionally, they have a pallet to be picked up at the warehouse. This is done by PostNord using the pallet "ad-hoc pickup" service.

The company would like to use Shipping Rules to make product selection easier. They only want their warehouse staff to choose between "Pallets" and "Parcels" after which Ticket should do the rest. Shipments are imported from the Company's ERP system into the Ticket Inbox. A custom value indicates a private or business parcel, euro pallet, or big pallet, or pick up at the warehouse, and the warehouse staff will print each label when the shipment is ready. 

Create the service level for pallets:

1. Go to Shipping Rules > File > Drafts and click the New button. Name your file and click Create.
   
   
    
2. Go to the Service Levels tab and click New. 
    
3. Enter a name, select a product, and click Create. In this use case, we will use the name "Pallets" and select the carrier product DSV > Road > Groupage.
    
4. Click the arrow next to the name and specify goodstype and services if needed. Here we will add Storpalle and DAP-Delivered At Place. 
   
   
    
5. Add a Condition and choose Goodsline >Custom line field 1 > Equal to > XL > Case insensitive. "XL" is the custom value that will be included in the shipment from the company's ERP system, indicating that it is a big pallet.
    
6. Click the New button in the Products section to add another product and click Create. In this use case, Leman Danmark > Bilfragt > LEMAN Basic is selected.
    
7. Click the arrow next to the name and add goodstype EURO-PALLET and the service DAP-Delivered At Place > 1.
    
8. Add a condition and choose Goodsline >Custom line field 1 > Equal to > EU > Case insensitive. "EU" is the custom value from the company's ERP system, indicating that it is a euro pallet.
   
    
9. Click the Save button. The service level for Pallets is now ready.

Create the service level for Parcels

Now we will create the service level for Parcels.

1. Click New in the Service Levels section.
    
2. Enter the name "Parcels", select a product, and click Create. We will use PostNord > Current > Parcel.
   
    
3. Click the arrow next to the name and specify goodstype and services if needed. Here we will add the service Signature Assurance.
    
4. Add a condition and choose Goodsline >Custom line field 1 > Equal to > B2B > Case insensitive. "B2B" is the custom value from the company's ERP system indicating a business parcel.
   
    
5. Click New in the Products section to add another product and click Create. Here we will use PostNord > Current > Mypack Home.
    
6. Click the arrow next to the name and add a condition. Select Goodsline >Custom line field 1 > Equal to > B2C > Case insensitive. "BC2" is the custom value from the company's ERP system, indicating a private parcel.
   
    
7. Click Save. The service level for parcels is ready.

Create the Select Rule for pickup at warehouse

Now we will create the Select Rule that will overrule the service levels and be used for shipments to be picked up at the warehouse. Whenever the value PICKUP is present in Custom line field 1, a PostNord Pallet with "Ad-hoc pickup" service will be used.

1. Go to the File tab and locate your file under Drafts. Click the wrench icon and choose Edit. 
   
    
2. Check Use select rules under Additional Options and click Next.
    
3. Click New, select a product and click Create. In this example, PostNord > Current > Pallet is used.
    
4. Click the arrow next to the name and specify goodstype and services if needed. We will use Hel palle /Pallet (80x120 cm) > Ad-hoc Pickup.
    
5. Add a condition and choose Goodsline > Custom line field 1 > Equal to > PICKUP > Case insensitive. "PICKUP" is the value from the company's ERP system indicating a pickup.
    
6. Click the Save button.

Making Service Levels visible in Production View

Company Q would like the Service Levels to be visible in the Production View. This enables the warehouse staff to make a simple choice between pallets and parcels.

 

To show the Service Levels in the Production view, follow these steps:

1. Go to Shipping Rules > Drafts, right-click on your file, and choose Edit.
    
2. Under Additional Options, check Advanced and click Next.
   
   
    
3. Close any screen that asks you to create a new service level or rule and go to the Advanced tab at the top. 
    
4. Check the option Show service level in PV and click the Save button at the bottom.
   
   
    
5. In Production view, you can now see a Service level drop-down list next to the product selection. The company's warehouse staff can now select Pallets or Parcels and Ticket will use the correct product depending on the value in custom field 1. (Note: You may need to restart the On-premises server and the client before the Service Levels become visible in Production View).
