Freight Rate Calculation, or Price Calculation, in nShift Ship calculates your freight rates based on carrier agreements. It considers distance, weight, geographical zones, and index prices to provide the expected rates.
Some carriers provide a Freight Rate Calculation service via web services. If your carriers do not support this, we can create a custom solution using your specific carrier prices.

How does Freight Rate Calculation work?
The Freight Rate Calculation tool calculates your freight rates using your carrier agreements. The calculation is based on factors like weight and volume to provide expected rates which you can view in the nShift Ship user interface before booking.
nShift Ship supports two solutions for Freight Rate Calculation:
- Carrier rates via web service. Rates are retrieved directly from the carriers' web services.
- Custom Price Calculation. Rates are based on your custom price configurations. These are specified in a custom XML file based on the pricing files received from your carriers.
Using the Custom Price Calculation (CPC) interface
If you are looking to set up your own Custom Price Calculation, we offer a graphic user interface along with a variety of tutorials and use cases to guide you. The interface automatically creates the XML file that nShift Ship uses to show the calculated rates.
The CPC interface is designed for those who need a straightforward setup with just a few carriers and prices. You can start fresh with the interface or easily upload an XML or EXCEL configuration file.
