FTP import gives you the choice to download files for import from a remote folder on an FTP server. You can configure this part in the Drop Zone application by following the steps below.
The actual import setup on the server must be made by a Technical Consultant from nShift.
- Go to the FTP Import tab in the Drop Zone application, and click New to create a new profile
- Check the Active box to activate FTP import and enter a destination folder and a short description.
- Select FTP or SFTP from the Protocol drop-down menu. If SFTP (Secure FTP) is selected, you may need to upload a certificate and a key.
- Fill in server and credentials and click Check Connection. If a connection is established successfully, you can click OK to save your profile.
Additional settings
Use Passive Mode if you have firewall issues or Binary Transfer if you have problems downloading the files from the FTP server.
We recommend keeping the checkmarks for both Delete files after download and Keep alive. If a file remains undeleted after download, the import and label printing processes will continue indefinitely, as there will always be at least one file available in the remote folder for import. Keep alive can be set to check the connection at a certain interval. The default is 5 seconds but this can be changed.
