When your nShift On-premises Server is up and running, you can install one or more On-premises Clients. On-premises Clients get all information from the nShift On-premises server and must be connected to the server to run. If the server is down, all clients will stop working.
When installing nShift On-premises Client, you must know the Server name and ports to connect. If you already have this information ready, you can jump straight to Install nShift On-premises Client.
Otherwise, start by following these steps first to find the server name:
- Go to the nShift On-premises Server or another nShift On-premises Client.
- Choose Edit > Server Connection in the top menu
- Note Server name, Site port and Port as you will need these for the client installation.
Install nShift On-premises Client:
- Download the setup file: SetupCLIC.exe . If the file does not download, try to right-click the link, copy it, and open it in a new window. Chrome sometimes blocks the download.
- Run the setup file as administrator.
- Click Next to begin the installation process.
- Enter the Server Name, Port and Site Port, and click Install. (Notice that the placement of the fields for Port and Site Port are in different order compared to the server)
- Click Finish to complete the installation and launch nShift On-premises Client.
If your client doesn't connect to the server, try to check the following:
- Make sure your nShift On-premises Server is up and running
- If you have Windows Firewall running on the same machine as your nShift On-premises Server, it might be blocking the connection. See our guide to Opening Windows Firewall for client connections to server. It explains how to open the ports needed to ensure a connection between nShift On-premises clients and the server.
