From 31 March 2026, the temporary NVIT arrangement (Norwegian Goods in Transit) will be discontinued.
Due to new EU requirements, stricter rules for goods information in transit declarations will be introduced. These changes require detailed goods information at the item line level in transit declarations.
Who is affected?
The change applies to all shipments transported in transit, e.g., via Sweden or Finland, including domestic shipments where both the sender and the recipient are located in Norway.
What is changing?
From 31 March 2026 each shipment must be declared with accurate and detailed goods information per item line. The rules about transit are the same for all carriers, but different carriers might handle it differently.
More information may be needed on each shipment. This could include:
- 6-digit HS commodity code
- Clear and precise commercial description
- Net weight
- Gross weight
- Packaging details (package type, number of packages, and marks)
Important note
Not all carriers have yet confirmed how these regulatory changes will impact their individual services or system requirements. nShift will continuously update our services and documentation as we receive confirmed information from affected carriers.
