Issue Summary
We've identified issues where labels from certain carriers (such as Postnord and FedEx) are not printing correctly when using the Zebra ZD421 with nShift On-premises. This is typically due to incorrect or missing fonts on the printer.
Because the ZD421 uses Version 10 of Zebra’s official drivers, updating fonts is not always straightforward, especially if the printer is installed via a print server.
Solution: Manually Updating Fonts Using Zebra Setup Utilities
Download Zebra Setup Utilities
Download the latest version of Zebra Setup Utilities from the official Zebra site:

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Zebra Setup Utilities
- Launch Zebra Setup Utilities.
- Select the Zebra ZD421 printer from the list.
- Click on “Open Printer Tools”.
Step 2: Send Font File to Printer
- In the Printer Tools window, go to the "Action" tab.
- Select "Send file" from the list.
- Browse to and select the required font file (for example, GK420D-FONT.SPL).
- Click “Send” to upload the file to the printer.
Step 3: Restart the Printer
After the font has been successfully sent:
- Power off the printer.
- Wait a few seconds, then power it back on.
This ensures the new font is loaded and recognized by the printer.
Additional Notes
- If the printer is installed via nShift On-premises, font updates can sometimes be pushed from the application.
- If the printer is installed through a print server, manual font updates using Zebra Setup Utilities may be required.
- Ensure you have administrative access to the printer or server where the printer is installed.
