This article will explain how to create a new Actor using the setup configuration available for or Ship Cloud solution.
For more general information on the Setup Configuration interface (Ship Self Service) and how to access it, click here.
The actor is the level in your setup where all your carriers are configured. With a Ship Cloud solution, the actor is usually the top level. There are two ways to create an actor using the Setup Configuration interface:
- Create an actor by duplicating an existing actor
- Create an actor by importing an XML configuration file
Create an actor by duplicating an existing actor
- Go to Ship > Configuration > Actors and Carriers.
- Click on the three-dot menu next to the actor you want to copy and choose Duplicate.
- Enter a name for the new Actor and click Create.
Note: Carriers are duplicated 1-1 so you must contact Customer Service to add another customer number or new counters to a carrier on the new actor.
Create an actor by importing an XML file
To use this method, you must have an XML configuration file ready. The file must be a valid configuration file exported from another actor (see tip at the bottom of the article).
- Go to Ship > Configuration > Actors and Carriers and click New.
- Enter an Actor name and drag and drop or choose the XML file on your computer.
- After adding a valid file, you can select the carriers to import from the configuration. All carriers will be selected by default.
- Click Create. Refresh the page to see the new actor. It may take a few minutes before the new actor is visible.
Note: Carriers are duplicated 1-1 so you must contact Customer Service to add another customer number or new counters to a carrier on the new actor.
Tip: How to download a configuration
Download an Actor configuration file by clicking the three-dot menu and choosing Download configuration.
