This article will explain how to use the Test Mode setup configuration available for our Ship cloud solutions. For more general information on the Setup Configuration interface (Ship Self Service) and how to access it, click here.
Test Mode is useful if you have a separate actor/member account used for testing purposes, e.g. testing new configurations like shipping rules and price calculation. It can also be used during the setup of a new actor or carrier during testing before it is ready for production.
Activating Test Mode
Follow these steps to activate Test Mode:
- Go to Ship > Configuration > Actors and Carriers.
- Navigate to the level where you want to use Test Mode. You can place it at any level. If you activate it on Actor level, it will apply to all carriers and products. You can also place it on a carrier, product group or a single product.
- Click New Configuration and choose Test Mode.
- Check the options you want to run in Test Mode and click Save. Checked options will override existing configurations, e.g. no bookings will be sent to the carrier and no insurances will be created.
Activating Test Mode when duplicating an Actor
You can also turn on Test mode when duplicating an Actor.
- Go to Ship >Configuration > Actors/Carriers.
- Click on the three-dot menu next to the actor you want to copy and choose Duplicate.
- Check Test mode and click Create. The new Actor will now have test mode turned on.
- You can see on the Overview of Locations and Actors if an actor runs in Test mode.
