On the 8th of February 2024 12:30-13:00 GMT+1 the UPS carrier in Webshipper will be updated to require OAuth enabled API keys to login and book shipments, as we are updating the integration to new security protocols.
To help you seamlessly transition we have this guide ready with step by step instructions on how to update in UPS and Webshipper respectively.
1. New API connection in UPS Developer Portal
Step 1: First we need to access the UPS Developer Portal: https://developer.ups.com/
Then we need to select 'Apps' in the profile menu and click 'Add Apps' once the Apps menu has opened.
Step 2: When adding a new App, select 'I want to integrate UPS technology into my business' in the first dropdown menu and then select an appropriate UPS Account to associate with the new credentials.
Step 3: Afterwards you can fill out your contact details as you see fit.
Step 4: On the following page you can select which UPS Products to associate with the new API connection.
Select the following:
- Shipping
- Tracking
- Paperless Documents
- Time in Transit
- Locator
- Pickup
- Rating
OAuth should automatically be selected and be non-removeable, but if not automatically selected please do so.
Step 5: Once the Products are saved, you will be presented with the new App details.
Here we need to get the Client ID and Client Secret.
Once the Client ID and Client Secret are acquired, we are done in the UPS Developer Portal and need to return to Webshipper.
2. Setting new Client ID and Secret in Webshipper
-- Only do this change after 8th of February 13:00 GMT+1. --
Click Connect on the left hand menu in Webshipper and open the Carriers tab to find your current UPS integration.
Once the carrier settings are open, we need to do the following changes:
Client ID needs to be input in the UPS Username field.
Client Secret needs to be input in the UPS Password field.
UPS Access Token field is deprecated, so you can remove any legacy values (but not required).
UPS Account Number doesn't necessarily need an update, the account number previously configured here can be used as long as the account is linked with the new API from the UPS Developer Portal, acquired at step 2 of the previous part of the guide.
Once the new Client ID and Client Secret are input, your UPS is ready to ship with the new authentication protocols!
