Use this article if your Zebra printer doesn't work properly, such as making skewed or crooked labels, pixelated texts, or wrong special characters.
- Go to Setup in nShift On-premises.
- Choose the Installation level in the setup tree.
- Open Server Printers, highlight the printer and click the Advanced button.
- Choose the Commands tab and select Send Command in the drop-down menu.
- Insert the command: ^XA^IDE:*.*^XZ and click Execute.
- Select Upload fonts and click Execute. Wait for about 1 minute until the upload is complete.
- Select Set printer to Nordic character set (Denmark, Norway) and click Execute.
- Select Save current settings and click Execute.
Select Send command, insert the command: ^XA^JBE^XZ, and click Execute.
- Calibrate the printer by holding down the button on top of the printer until it has blinked 2 times. Then release the button and it will feed 2-3 blank labels and adjust itself correctly.
- Restart nShift On-premises before making any new prints.
NOTE: Be aware that you should have the latest printer drivers installed before uploading fonts. Windows 2003 or Windows XP printer drivers do not work with Arial font.
Manage printer fonts (ZPL II via “Send file”)
List fonts stored on the printer (example: flash memory E:)
Create a .txt file containing this ZPL and send it with Printing Preferences → Tools → Send file → Send:
^XA ^WDE:*.FNT ^XZ
- This prints a directory label showing downloaded bitmap font files like
E:ARIALR.FNT. - If your fonts are on a different device, swap
E:toR:(RAM) or the relevant drive.
Delete fonts from the printer (downloaded files only)
To delete all downloaded bitmap fonts on E::
^XA ^IDE:*.FNT^FS ^XZ
To delete only specific fonts (e.g., ARIALB.FNT and ARIALR.FNT) on E::
^XA ^IDE:ARIALB.FNT^FS ^IDE:ARIALR.FNT^FS ^XZ
Notes:
^IDremoves stored/downloaded objects from the selected device (e.g.,E:). It won’t remove built-in (resident) fonts.- Using Send file is a simple way to push these ZPL snippets directly to the printer from the Windows driver UI.
