You can make changes to your Price Calculation files using the editor accessible from nShift Portal. If you have created a new configuration following the instructions from Lesson 1, you can jump to step 6. To edit an existing configuration, follow this guide from the beginning.
- Log into nShift Portal.
- Go to New Bookings > Settings and click on the Price Calculation box.
- Click the three dots next to the file you want to update and click Edit.
- The file is placed under Published. A file must be in Drafts to edit it. Choose Clone in drafts.
- You will now see a version of the file under Drafts. Choose Edit.
- The editor will open in the Main tab which is divided into the following sections: General settings, Calculation type, Price settings, and Input factors.
- Start by naming your new price file in the General settings section. This is mandatory. Choose a name so you can identify the file later. You may also enter an optional Comment as a short description of the file.
- Fill in Valid from and Valid to, to specify the time in which the price file is valid. It is only mandatory to set the Valid from date. If Valid to is left empty, it means that the file never expires.
- In the Calculation type section, you define the calculation method used for the price file:
-
Measurement: Choose the factor that applies to your prices. For example, if your prices vary according to weight, you should choose Weight, if they are based on goods type, choose Goods types, etc. Weight and volume weight should be selected when a selection between weight and an equivalent volumetric weight is required. The conversion from volume to an equivalent weight is calculated using the factor in cubic meters set in the Input Factors section. The largest value between the actual weight and volume weight will be the basis for all calculations. Weight, Volume weight and loadmeter weight compare an additional Loading meter weight element to weight and volumetric weight.
-
Per: Defines whether the calculation is made at the package level (line level) or for the entire shipment.
-
Distance and Type: Optional but needed for distance-based calculations. Select a distance-covering method and choose if the shortest or fastest route available should be used. Type is mandatory to fill in if Distance is chosen.

- In the Price Settings section, choose the currency in which the prices will be displayed and set a minimum and maximum price for which the calculation will display a price. Results outside of this range will be displayed as a null value. Min. price may be set to "0" and using "*" in the max. price field means all/any value.
- In the Input Factors section, you have the option to specify the factors in loading meter and cubic meter needed to convert volume-weight and loading meter-volume, if this was selected under Measurement in the Calculation type section. Loading meter and cubic meter factors are usually provided by the carrier and represent the amount that one unit of each type is charged in equivalent weight.
- Click Save to save your Main settings before moving on to the next tabs.
