With the Notifications feature in Portal, you can create great-looking notifications and send them to your customers based on events selected by you. nShift has created a number of ready-made templates you can change and customize with your own content to send great-looking notifications to your customers, or you can create your own templates from scratch.
Go to:
Create an Email template
- Log into nShift Portal with your owner user. Only owner profiles have access to all the features needed to configure Notifications.
- Click on Settings in the top right corner.
- Go to NOTIFICATIONS > Templates in the left side menu.
- Click Create new and select Email.
- You can now choose to create a template from scratch or start with an nShift template from the gallery. Hover over the one you want and click Create.
- Start by naming your template and adding a description. This is for internal use only.
- If you want to attach any documents to the notification, e.g. a return label, this can be done by expanding the Attachments section.
- In the Public T&T section, you can configure which Shipment viewer profile and theme will be used. This is relevant if your notification contains a tracking link. (Read more Shipment viewer profiles and themes).
- Configure the Locale and General settings. You have the option to add tokens (also called "merge tags") in the subject which is dynamic content based on the Shipment number, Order number, Carrier, or Receiver name of the shipment. You can also manually enter any of the other merge tags available in the body.
- Make your desired changes using the editor under Content layout. Click on elements to edit text, images, etc., and drag and drop new elements from the tools panel to the canvas on the right.
- To add dynamic shipment content, add a text block and choose a merge tag from the drop-down list. This will insert a token into your template that will be replaced with shipment information when the notification is sent to the customer.
- If you wish to preview your template with real shipment data, enter a barcode and click Preview. You can also send a test email. Please note that the barcode must be from a shipment produced on your installation.
- Click Save to save your template. Note that this template will be the default template and cannot be deleted. You can edit it and create localized versions in the next step.
- You can now add different language versions if needed or click Cancel to go to the template overview page. If you leave the settings to Any, the template will be used for all shipment languages and locations. Create an SMS template

- Start by naming your template and adding a description. This is for internal use only so you can identify the template later.

- Configure the Locale and General settings.
- Enter the text for your notification in the text field under Content layout. Drag and drop one of the tokens to the text field to insert dynamic content. The token will be replaced with shipment information when the notification is sent to the customer.
- If you wish to preview your template with real shipment data, enter a barcode and click Preview. You can also send a test SMS. Please note that the barcode must be from a shipment produced on your installation.
- Click Save.
- You can now add different language versions if needed or click Cancel to go to the template overview page. If you leave the settings to Any, the template will be used for all shipment languages and locations.
