Scan App Pro includes a live tracking feature that allows Action Center managers to view their agents' locations in real-time on a map. This feature is designed to help Scan App Pro managers manage pickups and deliveries more efficiently within a specific area and to quickly find nearby agents who can assist with tasks.
Live tracking settings in Scan App Pro
By default, Live Tracking is enabled when location services are turned on on your device. If location services are disabled, Scan App Pro will notify you when you try to activate Live Tracking. When Live Tracking is enabled, your device will send your location to the nShift Portal every minute.
You have control over your privacy and can choose to turn off live tracking at any time. Your location will only appear on the Action Center's map if Live Tracking is active. If it's turned off, your location won’t be tracked.
On the main screen, you can always tell if tracking is turned on by looking at the tracking icon:
Important note: To use Live Tracking with Scan App Pro, please make sure location services are set to "always allowed" on your device. If you have trouble adjusting the settings during installation, please follow these instructions:
iOS
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Make sure that Locations Services is on. Scroll down and find Scan App Pro and select Always.
Android - go to Settings > Apps > Scan App Pro > Permissions. Make sure Location is turned on and set to All the time.
Live Tracking in Portal
To view Live Tracking in the nShift Portal, go to Action Center > Live Tracking. You can explore the map and click on an agent to see their details. The map will refresh automatically to show updated positions. An agent's last GPS position will be available for 24 hours before it's removed. Only agents with Live Tracking and Ready to load enabled will appear on the map.
Tracking icons:
| Shows the position of the last scan event. | |
| Shows the position and movement direction of the agent. A solid icon means the data was received within the last 5 minutes. An outline icon means the data is older than 5 minutes. If a device doesn’t send a new position for 24 hours, the agent will no longer appear on the map under Agent details. | |
| The truck icon appears when the Agent is stationary. A solid icon means the data was received within the last 5 minutes, while an outlined icon shows the data is older than 5 minutes.
