Scan App supports live tracking functionality. With this feature, it is possible for Action Center managers to see their agents' positions live on a map. The feature is intended to assist Scan App managers in easier management of pickups and deliveries in a defined geographical area and to help identify nearby agents that could assist with the pickup or delivery.
Live tracking settings in Scan App
By default, Live Tracking will be active if location services are activated on your device. If location services are turned off, Scan App will let you know when you try to turn on Live Tracking. When Live Tracking is on, the device will upload your position to Portal every minute.
The agent controls his privacy and may turn off live tracking. Your position will only be shown on the Action Center's map if Live Tracking is on. If Live Tracking is off, your position will not be tracked.
On the main screen you can always tell if tracking is turned on by looking at the tracking icon:
Important note: Locations services must be allowed all the time for Scan App on your device to use Live Tracking. Follow these instructions if you are not able to make the right settings when you install Scan App:
iOS
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Make sure that Locations Services is on. Scroll down and find Scan App Pro and select Always.
Android - go to Settings > Apps > Scan App Pro > Permissions. Make sure Location is turned on and set to All the time.
Live Tracking in Portal
To see Live Tracking in nShift Portal, go to Action Center > Live Tracking. You can navigate around the map and click on an agent to get his details. The map will automatically refresh with updated positions. The last GPS position of an agent will be available for 24 hours after which it will be deleted. Only agents with Live Tracking and Ready to load turned on will be shown on the map.
Green icons are displayed when data has been received from an agent within the last 5 minutes. Grey icons are displayed when the last position is older than 5 minutes, but live tracking is still turned on. The truck icon is displayed when the Agent is not in motion. If a device does not send a new position for 24 hours, the agent will no longer be visible on the map.
