We would like to inform you about upcoming improvements to user management in nShift, currently planned for release during the week of April 20, 2026.
Why we are making these changes
These updates are part of a broader initiative to enhance user management in nShift. Over time, this will enable a more structured and efficient way of managing access through access groups, rather than assigning permissions individually per user. It also lays the groundwork for future support of SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).
What to expect in this release
With this release, you may notice the following changes in the user management area:
- An updated user interface
- Customer Users will be renamed to Users
- The Users page will have a new URL
- Usage Profile will be renamed to Functionalities
- When creating a new user, functionalities will no longer be preselected by default, and each functionality will need to be selected manually
- When editing a user profile, it will open in a new tab as a full page instead of in a modal window
- The option to clone users will be removed
Existing users and their permissions will not be affected by this release.
Access groups: what you need to know
You do not need to start working with access groups as part of this release.
Onboarding to access groups will be done gradually, and we will prioritize customers who can benefit most from the new capabilities. For companies that do not regularly add or change users, the move to access groups should have a limited impact. We will inform you in advance before your company is moved to access groups.
Important notes
- If you have saved bookmarks to the current user management page, those may stop working after the release because of the updated URL
-
If you are using the clone user feature today, please contact your nShift contact, and we can evaluate whether you would be a good candidate for early access to our new user management.
