What is Apple Wallet Integration?
Apple Wallet integration allows your shipment recipients to add their delivery tracking information directly to the Wallet app on their iPhone. Once added, they can:
- Track their shipment directly from their Wallet app
- Receive automatic push notifications when the shipment status changes
- Get notified when the shipment is delivered
- Access tracking information offline, even without opening your email again
This provides a convenient, native iOS experience for tracking shipments without needing to save emails or visit tracking websites.
How it works for recipients
Step 1: Receive the email
The recipient receives your notification email on their iPhone containing the Apple Wallet link or button.
Step 2: Add to Wallet
When the recipient taps the "Add to Apple Wallet" link or button on their iPhone, the Wallet app automatically opens and displays a preview of the shipment tracking pass.
Important: The email must be opened on an iPhone for the Wallet integration to work. If opened on a computer or Android device, the link won't function properly.
Step 3: Track the shipment
Once added to Wallet, the shipment tracking pass appears in their Wallet app alongside credit cards, boarding passes, and other passes. They can:
- Open Wallet anytime to see the current shipment status
- View tracking details and delivery information
-
Receive lock screen notifications when the shipment status changes
Step 4: Delivery notification
When the shipment is delivered, the recipient receives an automatic push notification on their iPhone lock screen informing them of the delivery.
Adding Apple Wallet to email templates
You can add Apple Wallet integration to your email templates using two merge tags:
Option 1: Apple Wallet link (simple)
Use {{apple_wallet}} to insert a plain URL that recipients can click:
<p>Track your shipment in Apple Wallet:</p>
<a href="{{apple_wallet}}" style="color: #007bff; text-decoration: underline;">
Add to Apple Wallet
</a>
Option 2: Apple Wallet button (recommended)
Use {{apple_wallet_button}} to insert a pre-styled button with the official "Add to Apple Wallet" badge:
<div style="margin: 20px 0; text-align: center;">
<h3>Save to Your iPhone Wallet</h3>
<p>Track your shipment and get delivery notifications</p>
{{apple_wallet_button}}
</div>
The {{apple_wallet_button}} tag automatically generates an HTML button with the official Apple Wallet badge (SVG format, 150px width) wrapped in a clickable link.
Option 3: Custom-styled button
If you want more control over the styling, use the {{apple_wallet}} link with your own HTML:
<div style="text-align: center; margin: 30px 0;">
<a href="{{apple_wallet}}"
style="display: inline-block;
background-color: #000;
color: #fff;
padding: 12px 24px;
text-decoration: none;
border-radius: 8px;
font-weight: bold;">
📱 Add to Apple Wallet
</a>
</div>

Important requirements
The Apple Wallet integration is automatically enabled. You just need to add the merge tags to your template.
For recipients
iPhone required: Recipients must open the email on an iPhone (iOS device). The Wallet integration does not work on:
- Android devices
- Desktop computers (Mac or PC)
- Non-iOS mobile devices
Email must be opened on iPhone: Even if the recipient has an iPhone, they must open the email on their iPhone for the "Add to Wallet" link to work. If they view the email on their computer first, they'll need to forward it to their phone or open it again on their phone.
SMS limitation: Apple Wallet tags are not possible to use on SMS templates. We don’t know if the receiver of the SMS has an iPhone or an Android, and the experience for Android users who receive this notification would be bad.
Apple Wallet app: The Wallet app is pre-installed on all iPhones and doesn't need to be downloaded separately.
