Event Position adds GPS coordinates to each scanned shipment event in Scan App. This provides proof of where a pickup, delivery, or other status update took place.
While it uses the same location services as Live Tracking, Event Position is a separate feature and can be enabled or disabled independently.
How it works
- By default, Event Position is ON in Scan App.
- Each time an event is scanned (e.g., pickup, delivery, warehouse entry), the app records the device’s GPS position and uploads it with the event to Action Center.
- If Event Position is disabled, new events will not include location data; however, the last event with location remains visible in the Agents tab.
- Works even if Live Tracking is disabled.
Settings in Scan App
To control the settings, go to the Profile screen. When Event Position is turned on, each scan includes the GPS location. When turned off, all scans are uploaded without location data.
If both Event Position and Live Tracking are turned off, the location manager will not run, regardless of your device's location services settings.
Action Center in nShift Portal
Event details include the GPS location (if Event Position was enabled at the time of scan).
Managers can view scan history with location references for verification.
