Live Tracking allows managers in Scan App Action Center to monitor the real-time location of their agents on a map. This feature helps optimize daily operations, such as assigning pickups and deliveries, reallocating resources, or finding the nearest available agent for urgent tasks.
How it works
When Live Tracking is enabled in Scan App, the app uploads the agent’s GPS position to Action Center once every 60 seconds (if the location has changed by more than 50m and accuracy <500m).
Locations are visible on the Live Tracking map within the Action Center.
Position data is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
If Live Tracking is disabled, the agent will not appear on the Live Tracking map.
Positions with low accuracy (>500m) are flagged in the Positions Log.
Live tracking settings in Scan App
To control the settings, go to the Profile screen and make sure Live Tracking is turned On.
Live tracking runs in the background: It continues to send the location as long as Live Tracking is enabled (not if the app is fully killed).
Privacy control: The agent can toggle Live Tracking off at any time.
If Location Services are disabled on the device, Scan App prompts the user to enable them before tracking can start.
Live Tracking in Portal
To see Live Tracking in nShift Portal, go to Action Center > Live Tracking. You can navigate around the map and click on an agent to get their details. The map will automatically refresh with updated positions. The last GPS position of an agent will be available for 24 hours, after which it will be deleted. Only agents with Live Tracking and Ready to load turned on will be shown on the map.
Tracking icons:

If a device does not send a new position for 24 hours, the agent will no longer be visible on the map under Agent details. | |
