The Emission Factor Configurations page provides a central dashboard where you can view, sort, filter, and manage all your existing emission factor setups across your organization. This interface gives you complete visibility of how emission calculations are configured throughout your shipping operations.
Overview of the Configurations List
The configurations list displays all your existing emission factor setups in a tabular format with the following information:
-
#: Sequential numbering of your configurations
-
Name: The descriptive name you assigned to each configuration
-
Valid from: The date from which the configuration applies
-
Scope: Whether the configuration applies to Scope 1 (your own fleet) or Scope 3 (purchased transport)
-
Source: The emission factor standard applied (e.g., nShift Standard Road, nShift Standard Air)
-
Carriers: The transport carriers this configuration applies to
-
Services: The specific transport services covered by this configuration
-
Actions: Access edit options for each configuration (button on far right)
Navigating and Managing Configurations
Searching and Filtering
The search and filter tools help you quickly locate specific configurations:
-
Search by name: Find configurations using their descriptive names
-
Search by scope: Filter by Scope 1 or Scope 3 designations
-
Search emission factor: Find configurations using specific factor types
-
Filter by carrier: View configurations for specific transport providers
-
Filter by transport service: See configurations for particular service types
These filtering options are particularly useful when managing large numbers of configurations across multiple carriers and services.
Sorting Your Configurations
You can sort the list by clicking on any column header:
-
Sort alphabetically by Name, Source, Carriers, or Services
-
Sort chronologically by Valid from date
-
Sort numerically by Scope
The current sort direction is indicated by an arrow next to the column name.
Pagination Controls
For organizations with many configurations, the page includes pagination controls at the bottom:
-
Navigate between pages using the arrow buttons
-
Jump to specific pages using the page numbers
-
Adjust how many items display per page using the dropdown (default: 10)
Editing Existing Configurations
To modify an existing emission factor configuration:
-
Locate the configuration you want to edit in the list
-
Click the action menu icon (three horizontal lines) on the far right of that configuration's row
-
Make your desired changes in the configuration editor that appears
-
Save your modifications
Note: When editing configurations, any changes will apply to emissions calculations from the "Valid from" date forward. This means that if we initiate a recalculation of shipments, historical calculations will be updated if you maintain the original "Valid from" date.
Best Practices for Configuration Management
-
Regularly review your configurations to ensure they align with current business practices
-
Use descriptive naming conventions that make configurations easy to identify
-
Document your configuration strategy to maintain consistency when creating new setups
-
Consider creating a new configuration instead of updating central configurations
-
Coordinate configuration valid from dates with reporting cycles to maintain data consistency
By effectively managing your emission factor configurations, you'll ensure consistent reporting and accurate emissions calculations across your entire shipping operation.
