What is Emissions Tracker?
The Emissions Tracker is a solution built in partnership with the Network for Transport Measures (NTM) designed to measure transport emissions. The solution provides an easy way to track emissions across multiple carriers. Insights are available through a single portal, eliminating the need to access multiple systems and compile reports from different carriers.
Why has nShift built Emissions Tracker?
Measuring Emissions is becoming increasingly important for the shipping and retail market. Consumers are increasingly interested in understanding the carbon footprint of their shopping and are basing decisions on available credible information. The EU is introducing the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) mandate which will make reporting on Emissions mandatory for over 50,000 businesses in the EU.
Why is Emissions Tracker interesting to me?
Many nShift customers are experiencing a shift in the market towards sustainability awareness, and are being forced to think about the incoming legislation (CSRD). If reporting on Emissions will become mandatory for your company, Emissions Tracker could be the solution.
Does buying Emissions Tracker make my company compliant with the CSRD?
No. Purchasing Emissions Tracker does not automatically make you compliant. The solution helps you get an accurate overview of your transport emissions across the delivery management cycle. There are other elements of your overall sustainability that you may wish to track which can be supplemented by the data available in Emissions Tracker.
Do I already have to have an nShift product to buy Emissions Tracker?
A shipment must be uploaded to nShift Portal to be subject to emission calculation which means that the simplest (but not the only) way is to be a Ship or Delivery book and print customer.
How much does Emissions Tracker cost?
The price depends on the volume of shipments produced per year. Contact sales for more pricing information.
Why is data calculated by nShift interesting? Is carrier data not more accurate?
Most carriers calculate their carbon footprints in retrospect. While they have more detailed information on the truck fleet and the production of transport, the carrier calculation method is rarely at the finest level of detail for load factor and routing for each shipment. Furthermore, Emissions Tracker is capable of handling multiple sources for transport emissions data on each shipment, which means that we can store and display emission information from the carriers when they make the data available via API.
How long is the implementation time?
Implementation can be done in 1-2 weeks and is handled by a consultant from nShift.
Can I get emissions data for global shipments?
You can get emissions data for European shipments in the first version of Emissions Tracker, with global shipments on the roadmap for release during 2024. See the list of supported countries and territories here.
How is the emissions data calculated?
Our calculations are based on predefined emission factors, gross weight and distance traveled. By building the product in partnership with NTM (Network for Transport Measures) the emission factors gain a high level of credibility. The calculations conform to the ISO standard required.
